Badges
Earn achievement badges as you rate photos and improve your skills. Track your progress with 33 total badges across five categories: Volume, Quality Expert, Speed, Consistency, and Mastery.
Badge System
The AI Photo Trainer includes a gamified badge system with 33 total badges organized into five categories:
- Volume Badges (4): Stackable badges for rating quantity - can be earned multiple times
- Quality Expert Badges (13): Tiered badges (Bronze/Silver/Gold) for photo quality mastery
- Speed Badges (3): Tiered badges for rating efficiency (photos per hour)
- Consistency Badges (3): Tiered badges for regular work patterns (sessions per week)
- Mastery Badges (10): Elite meta-achievement badges with tier progression
Badges are stored in three database tables for proper tracking:
photographer_badge_counts- Stackable volume badges with accumulating countsphotographer_quality_badges- Tiered badges (Quality/Speed/Consistency) with personal best trackingphotographer_mastery_badges- Elite achievement badges
v0.10.0 Update: Badge classification has been corrected. Weekly Warrior and Speed Demon are now properly classified as Quality Badges (tiered) instead of Stackable Badges, eliminating duplicate badge entries.
Stackable Badges (Volume)
Volume badges reward you for rating photos in a single session. These badges can be earned multiple times and counts accumulate in the photographer_badge_counts table:

Stackable Counts: Each time you earn a badge, the counter increments. If you earn Century Club 12 times, you'll see "×12" on the badge card in the Photographer Portal.
Quality Badges (Quality Expert)
Quality Expert badges use a Bronze/Silver/Gold tier system and automatically upgrade as you improve. These badges are earned by completing high-quality sessions (75+ photos, 60+ minutes) with low issue percentages. Only your best tier is saved in the photographer_quality_badges table:
Glare Master (☀️ Sun)

Auto-Upgrade: Quality badges automatically upgrade from Bronze → Silver → Gold as you meet higher criteria. You'll receive a notification each time you tier up.
Speed Badges
Speed badges reward efficiency and rapid processing. These badges are earned by maintaining a consistent photos-per-hour rate for a full session. Stored in photographer_quality_badges table.
Speed Demon (⚡ Gauge)

Speed Tip: Use Hot Folder Monitoring for the fastest rating workflow. Photos analyze automatically as they're added to the folder.
Consistency Badges
Consistency badges encourage regular work patterns. These badges track how many sessions you complete in a 7-day rolling window. Stored in photographer_quality_badges table.
Weekly Warrior (📅 Calendar-Check)

v0.10.0 Update: Weekly Warrior has been reclassified from a stackable badge to a tiered quality badge. Only your best tier (Bronze/Silver/Gold) is tracked, eliminating duplicate entries.
Mastery Badges
Mastery badges are elite meta-achievements that recognize exceptional dedication. These badges are earned from earning other badges. Each tier is a separate badge stored in the photographer_mastery_badges table with a crown icon overlay.
Century Master (👑 Crown + Trophy)

Access the Badges page from the sidebar to see your achievement progress:
- Grid Layout: All 33 badges displayed with icons
- Filter Tabs:
- All - Show all badges
- Earned - Show only unlocked badges
- Locked - Show only badges you haven't earned yet
- Progress Bars: Locked badges show how close you are to earning them
- Earned Badges: Display with date and time when unlocked

Earned vs. Locked Badge Display:

Locked Badges:

Multi-Device Sync: Your badges automatically sync between the desktop app and the web portal. The system keeps your best tier for quality badges and maximum count for stackable badges across all devices.

Badge Details
Click any badge to view detailed information:
- Name: Badge title
- Description: What the badge represents
- Criteria: Exact requirements to earn the badge
- Progress: Current progress toward earning (e.g., "35/50 pose issues flagged")
- Date Earned: When you unlocked the badge (if earned)
- Rarity: How many photographers have earned this badge (coming soon)

Badge Notifications
Real-Time Alerts
When you earn a badge, an instant notification appears on your screen:
- 🏆 Badge Icon: Visual representation of the achievement
- Badge Name: Title of the badge earned
- Congratulations Message: Celebratory text
- Auto-Dismiss: Notification disappears after 5 seconds

Server-Sent Events (SSE)
Badge notifications use Server-Sent Events technology for real-time delivery:
- Instant Delivery: Notifications appear immediately when badges are earned
- No Refresh Required: You don't need to reload the page
- Works Across All Views: Notifications appear regardless of which page you're viewing
- Persistent Connection: Maintains live connection to the server for instant updates
Offline Mode: If you're working offline, badge notifications will queue and deliver when your internet connection is restored. Your progress is never lost.
