Installation

Install the AI Photo Trainer desktop application on Windows to start rating and analyzing your photos with AI-powered feedback.

System Requirements

Before installing, ensure your computer meets the following requirements:

Minimum Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10 (Build 1903 or later) or Windows 11
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • Disk Space: 2 GB free (plus 1.5 GB for AI models)
  • Internet: Required for model downloads and session syncing
  • Operating System: Windows 11
  • RAM: 8 GB or more
  • Storage: SSD for faster photo loading
  • GPU: NVIDIA GPU with CUDA support (for faster AI processing)
  • Internet: Stable connection for seamless syncing

Note: A GPU is not required but significantly improves AI analysis speed. The application works on CPU-only systems.

Installation Steps

Follow these steps to install the AI Photo Trainer desktop application:

  1. Download the Installer

    • File: AI Photo Training Setup 0.10.0.exe
    • Size: ~402 MB
    • Location: Provided by your administrator or downloaded from company portal

  2. Run the Installer

    • Double-click AI Photo Training Setup 0.10.0.exe
    • Windows may show a security warning - click "More info" → "Run anyway"
    • Click "Yes" if prompted for administrator permissions

  3. Installation Options

    • Install Location: Default is C:\Program Files\AI Photo Training Team\AI Photo Training\
    • Desktop Shortcut: Checked by default (recommended)
    • Start Menu Shortcut: Checked by default (recommended)

  4. Wait for Installation

    • Installation takes 1-2 minutes
    • Progress bar shows file extraction

  5. Launch Application

    • Check "Launch AI Photo Training" and click "Finish"
    • OR double-click desktop shortcut
    • OR search for "AI Photo Training" in Windows Start Menu

Windows Security Warning: If Windows Defender SmartScreen blocks the installer, click "More info" and then "Run anyway". The application is safe but not yet widely distributed enough to be recognized by SmartScreen.

Upgrading from v0.9.0

If you're upgrading from version 0.9.0, follow these steps:

  1. Uninstall v0.9.0 via Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps
  2. Download and install v0.10.0 using the installer
  3. Your database and settings will be preserved (stored in AppData\Local)
  4. Hot folders will need to be reconfigured due to internal format changes

What's New in v0.10.0: This release includes critical badge system fixes (Weekly Warrior and Speed Demon duplication resolved), session-aware hot folder filtering to prevent re-processing old images, and Rails API integration improvements for reliable session uploads.

What Gets Installed

The installer creates files in two locations:

Program Files (Read-Only)

Location: C:\Program Files\AI Photo Training Team\AI Photo Training\

  • Application executable
  • Backend processing engine (PyInstaller)
  • Static resources and configuration files

User Data (Your Data)

Location: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\AI Photo Training\

  • Database: data/photo_rater.db (all your ratings and session data)
  • Logs: logs/ (application logs for troubleshooting)
  • AI Models: models/ (downloaded during first-time setup, ~1.5 GB)
  • Configuration: data/hot_folders.json (hot folder settings)

Tip: Your user data folder contains all your personal data. Back up this folder regularly to preserve your ratings and session history.

Uninstallation

If you need to uninstall the application, you have two options:

Method 1: Windows Settings

  1. Open Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps
  2. Search for "AI Photo Training"
  3. Click three dots (•••) → Uninstall
  4. Follow the prompts

Method 2: Control Panel

  1. Open Control Panel → Programs → Programs and Features
  2. Find "AI Photo Training"
  3. Right-click → Uninstall

What Gets Removed

  • Application files from Program Files
  • Desktop and Start Menu shortcuts

What Stays (Unless Manually Deleted)

  • Your database (AppData\Local\AI Photo Training\data\)
  • Downloaded AI models (AppData\Local\AI Photo Training\models\)
  • Application logs (AppData\Local\AI Photo Training\logs\)

Data Preservation: Uninstalling the application does NOT delete your data. If you want to completely remove all traces, manually delete the AppData\Local\AI Photo Training\ folder after uninstalling.
